Called "Kijkduin", the windmill is a round stone ground sailer built in 1772 as a flour mill. Even before 1575 a windmill mill stood on this site, which was set on fire on 27 May by retreating Spanish soldiers. Only after 20 years a new mill, a standard mill, was built that was demolished in 1771 and replaced by the current mill. Initially, the flour mill was rented out at Schoorl and was owned for 5/6 by Schoorl and for 1/6 by Groet. The mill was sold to Dirk Duin in 1868.
